My Master’s thesis concerns the relations between sounds and music in Ingmar Bergman’s Fanny and Alexander (1983). With a musical-semiotic framework I use as theoretical keys the aesthetic of the acousmatic, the sonic isomorphism and the theory of musical topics to show narrative and symbolic functions of the sounds in the seven minutes long prologue of the film. My Bachelor’s paper concerned the music and some sounds in the film Wild Strawberries (1957), written and directed by Ingmar Bergman with original score composed by Erik Nordgren.
